2011 will kick off in just a matter of days as well as my new 2011 pricing structure!

Firstly, I want to thank all of you for your support and business in this first year! It has been a really fun ride- starting out, portfolio building, continuous skill building, and learning all about maintaining my own business. I couldn't have done it without all of you.

I now realize that in order to maintain my business, grow creatively and technically, I need to make some adjustments to my business model and plan. These changes will help to compensate for upgraded equipment, editing time, and costs of rental equipment depending on your session or event... just to name a few things. All of these upgrades will translate to better quality images for your benefit!

As of January 1st, I will be changing my session packages and pricing. You can find these prices HERE

Now because I LOVE throwing out new promotions and offering all of you what I think will fit your photography needs, here is my latest (and possibly last) promo in order to "soften" the blow of my new pricing structure!

Robert & Kelly are Engaged!! {Southern California Engagement Photographer}

These two are one of my favorite couples! And I am so elated that they are getting married! So you could imagine how excited I was when they asked me to shoot their engagement photos. I could have photographed these two for hours. They were naturals in front of the camera.

We headed off to one of my favorite locations for a great evening! The sunset was crazy this day! The oranges that spread across the mountains made them look like they were on fire. It was amazing!

The R Family {Claremont, CA Family Photographer}

I know I have said time and time again that I have photogenic clients. This family is up there with the top! I went to High School with Brianne. Let me tell you she was gorgeous back then and it still stunning now! (Hello! Jealous!!). Her little girl has amazing eyes! The catch-lights in each image were awesome! I can't wait to photograph this family again!! :)

5 Little Monkeys {Inland Empire Family & Children Photography}

My good friend Mandy contacted me about photographing the grandchildren for her parents. I was definitely up for the challenge. These kids kept me on my toes! In fact, they made all of us work. BUT in the end we still got some great images!

At the end, I did a little mini-session with this little guy and his parents. LOVE his curly blonde hair!

The F Family {Long Beach, CA Family Photography}

I just adore this family and every time I photograph them I have fun. The boys are so so cute and the older (Little P) is such a character! We had some great convos about turtles!

We headed out to El Dorado Park in Long Beach for their Holiday session. I was supposed to rain but it ended up being quite sunny (though the rain did come later the night!) so it was a perfect morning. There were a lot of ducks and geese there but we managed to steer clear!

They brought along their nieces to get in some grandkid pics for the family! Such beautiful girls!

Country Love Sneak Peek {Southern California Engagement Photography}

I cannot say enough about these two. They were so much fun to watch. I have known Robert for about 10 years now and couldn't be happier he found someone as gorgeous and fantastic as Kelly! We went out to Oak Glen tonight for their engagement shoot. I had to post a few sneak peeks as we caught a beautiful warm sunset. These were the last few shots of the evening.

When you look at this session, you would never guess it was raining (lightly) during the last quarter of it! Thank goodness my camera is weather sealed!! This family was a trooper and playing in the rain made this fun! These girls were probably the bubbliest girls I have photographed so far. You can just see the energy shine through in the youngest!

A Beautiful Fall Season {Southern California Family Photographer}

The weekend after Thanksgiving, my family and I packed up everything and headed to Kern River, CA. Beautiful scenery with the look of true fall (which is hard to find in the city!). Of course while we were there, I had to take advantage. My Sister in Law and her family were my main subjects. They wanted their annual family pictures done by me and of course I was honored!! And what a perfect time to do them!

Spaghetti Smiles {Inland Empire Family Photographer}

One of the biggest challenges with photographing children, especially between the ages of 18-24 months, is how to get them to give you a big REAL smile. I think any photographer can attest to this. However, with little K all it took was a simple "spaghetti" dance. You may be thinking "what is a spaghetti dance?" well that's a very good question. It was one of those things that come out of your brain in a millisecond and it happened to work!! All I had to do was dance around saying "spaghetti" and K would give me a huge teethy grin! It was adorable.

I love watching this family interact together. You can feel their sense of adoration for each other. It happened to rain this day and instead of rescheduling, we did a casual relaxed shoot of this family just as they are. It was perfect. They have a gorgeous home that makes for a great canvas and even with the dark & dreary weather there is still some beautiful light in their home!

Welcoming Twins! {Inland Empire Maternity Photographer}

Not only is Heidi a really great friend of mine, but she is also carrying TWINS!! She looks absolutely stunning and I only dream I'll look half as good as she does when we decide to bring on #2!

This shoot took place at their home with Proud Daddy-to-be's 1941 Chevy! Since Heidi is on modified bedrest, we certainly made with the great scenery her beautiful home provides! I couldn't be happier for Heidi & Phil. I can't wait to meet your little boy and girl!

I have photographed these two before and though the mom wouldn't believe me, these two are SO easy to photograph. I don't know what it is about them but they are so photogenic and I always end up loving every photo I take of them. Of course it helps that Mom is stunningly beautiful and C is just as handsome as they come for 4 year olds!!

We went to my favorite blue door location! This time I played a little more with the blues in the door just to give it a bright and rich pop.

It's Fall in California! {Inland Empire Maternity Photographer}

I could not possibly describe how gorgeous this location is. Southern California is not known for it's seasons. We tend to stay steady around 60-70 degrees in the "winter." But here you forget you are in SoCal! Perfect fall leaves; bold yellows, golds, and greens. GORGEOUS!

This session happened to be a maternity session of another photographer who contacted me. It is really great to be able to meet another local photographer. Jennifer happens to be expecting her second child and I imagine he is going to be just as stunning as their first! Little A will melt your heart with her contagious laughs and bright smiles!

This was another session I had trouble narrowing down. This location was so big we explored so much of it and I have to show you what it has to offer! I hope to visit here for another photo shoot soon!

The Workshop

I recently attended a Not-So-Basic Workshop by Melissa Koehler in San Diego, CA. It was an amazing experience where I was able to not only meet a bunch of wonderful photographers, but I was able to gain incredible knowledge from an astounding photographer. Melissa is truly wonderful at what she does.

I thought I'd share a few images from the shooting portion of the workshop. San Diego has some wonderful locations! I wish we had a open, grassy field like this accessible around here!

When I think of this family, the first thing that pops in my head is adorable! Though the boys were a tad bit shy when we first started, they loosened up & relaxed in a matter of minutes. This session was a breeze and at a beautiful location with some gorgeous lighting!

I know you have heard me say this before, but I love this family. Not only are they beautiful, but the mom happens to be one of my good friends since High School (I should pull out our old Cheer pictures!) and a photographer herself. (Hint: She lives in Northern California if you are looking for an amazing photographer!!). My daughter and her son are only 2 days a part and have been playmates since they were infants.

Anyway, I am rambling. Here are some pics from our hot & fun morning! (I'll post the ones she took of my family soon!).

As a photographer myself, always being behind the lens usually means very few images that include yourself with your kiddos. So we broke apart and made sure we got some individually!

So these girls are becoming one of my favorite clients! So beautiful, so photogenic! I loved this location, its so unique and the architecture is amazing. Who knew such a beautiful location Mission Inn in Riverside would turn out to be, even the streets on the outside turned into some great photo opps! The 107 degree weather (at 6pm!) didn't stop us from getting some great images!

Little bright blue-eyed boy baby A had one of the most contagious smiles I have yet to come across. His smile would fill his entire face (pay attention to his Daddy, because he has his Daddy's smile hands down!). It was the sweetest thing. Little A also turned 6 months old. So to celebrate, A's parent booked a shoot and I dug around my in-laws attic to find something different to add. Low & behold, there was my husband's Grandmother's old suit case from the 1950's. Old, weathered and PERFECT! Little A loved this suitcase and would sit, smile and ham it up for the camera! It was so refreshing to watch this family interact. You can just feel how much they adore their little man!

Sweet little baby E is incredibly photogenic! I am growing to truly love photographing newborns. There is something about the pure innocence and calmness about a newborn baby. Baby E was 2 weeks old and has the most beautiful complexion (if you took a look at her mommy, you would see where she gets it from). Her parents were big Charger fans so you will see how E will be the cutest & youngest Charger cheerleader (and who DOESN'T love a newborn baby girl in a tu-tu??).

This particular momma-to-be holds a special place in my heart. Not only is she absolutely stunning, she is also a good friend of mine. We met 4 years ago at our lovely place of employment. :) You cannot deny her beauty shines through as she adores her baby bump and awaits the arrival of her son.

Along with daddy-to-be, we hopped on down to a gorgeous beach in Malibu, CA. It was like a mini hidden paradise right up our very own coastline. Gorgeous scenery along with a couple that clearly adores their unborn son equals a great evening shoot!

Capturing the beautiful sunset was a must!

High School Senior {Los Angeles, CA Lifestlye Senior Photographer}

Miss A is graduating this year! A big milestone in a teenagers' life. They head out into the world with several of unknowns and adventures waiting for them!

However, in the meantime, they can enjoy their last year of school as the top of the class! And what better reason for a lifestyle photo shoot. Forget the formal session with the same drape or tux in every picture (Do they still use that? It's been awhile since I have been in High School! haha). Letting Seniors be themselves and photographing them in their own world makes for a fun photo shoot!

This particular day was a hot one! But A was a trooper and boy did her make up hold up perfectly! A is incredibly photogenic. We wandered around a giant location with lots of variety for these shots. Enjoy!

The L family are close friends of ours. I was honored to shoot Baby G's newborn session and now his 4 month old pics. This little guy is just as cute as they get. A little camera shy but he has perfect skin and gorgeous eyes.. of course looking at his mother (Sorry J!! haha) it's no wonder he has such great features! Thanks for such a great morning!

Mini Accordion Albums

Mini Accordion Albums make the perfect little gifts. These are perfect small brag books that fit nicely in your purse or in your desk at the office. After hearing so much about these little cuties, I had to order some myself. I took this opportunity, however, to create little brag books for my parents & in-laws of my daughter's 2 year photos I took recently. Let me say that they all adored these little books! They are really the cutest thing. and what Grandparents DON'T want pictures of their grandchild to show off?

Here are a few pics I took of it. Must excuse my attempt at product photography. That and trying to do this with Hailey tugging at my shirt the whole time!

These little books are about 3x3 in size and are held closed with mild magnet which is embedded in the front and back covers . The particular template design I used for this held about 15 pictures in it. Each template design is different and the picture quantity will vary.

I am so lucky to have worked with such awesome families. The G family are made of up some fun and happy people! Not only are these little girls SO easy to photograph, the family as whole just beams. It was great to get in some traditional family shots then sit back and photograph them being the great family they are! Talk about a proud Daddy who's completely wrapped around his daughter's fingers! Too cute!

This shoot was absolutely AMAZING! I have a new love for outside boudoir sessions. I was over the moon excited when this sassy red-head wanted to embark on this. This session really peaks at the top! We went to a local horse stable which happens to be along side a shallow river. Not only did this sexy vixen sprawl across the horse, she also got into the river with him. I can now cross off my list that I have gone into a river to get some shots and let me tell you it was SO SO worth it! Another shoot where it was so hard to narrow down which ones to show to everyone. 6. What should I bring?... Your beautiful self, 2 outfits you wish to wear and any props you want to incorporate. If you are doing this for your honey, including something with his favorite hobby or sports teams is a great idea!

7. And I’m scared!…. Don’t be!!! Katy and I will be there to make you look fabulous. It will be a super FUN, relaxed, environment and you will leave feeling totally liberated!

8. Is this private?… Absolutely. Your session time is scheduled for you only. And don't worry, only images YOU chose would make it on my blog/website. I wouldn't post anything without permission!

Look who's turning 2!! I have to AW my own child a bit. At the end of August, my little munchkin turns 2! I can't even begin to describe how fast the past 2 years has gone. She is such an adorable, vibrant and animated child and I just adore every bit and piece of her. She is such a sweetie and has some irresistibly kissable cheeks with stunning blue eyes!

For her birthday invitation, I decided to put her in front of my lens and do a mini-shoot. I grabbed some balloons on the way home from work, set her small Hailey-sized picnic table in our front yard, tied the balloons to it and prepped my husband for a goofy session. As most 2 year olds are, she wasn't very interested in sitting still but that was perfectly fine. I was able to catch Hailey, being Hailey!! I really popped these images into bright, candied colors. Fits perfectly with her personality!

I met up with the G family for a great evening shoot. The location was perfect and the coordinating outfits (GREAT job Nicole!) went perfectly with the amazing big blue door. The particular shoot took place during what I call the "magic hour." This is the hour before sundown where the lighting is just perfect. For natural light photographer, lighting is everything! To top it off, this was taken at my favorite location. This beautiful mommy happens to be a part of my mommy circle and I was so pleased she wanted a shoot of her & her adorable daughter for her husband for Father's Day. Perfect gift, I am sure he will treasure these images of his gorgeous girls!

I played with some On The Spot Studio actions on these two images, though uploaded online doesn't do them justice!

In this particular spot, the golden sundown was bouncing off the walls just enough to give this image a golden accent! (P.S.This image is basically straight out of the camera! LOVE magic hour!!)

Sunflare and a Sneak Peek!

Sunflare is a trend that you find in many photographers' portfolio. Sunflare is basically when you take a photograph and direct sunlight contacts the many pieces of glass in your lens, it usually creates reflections and flares in your photographs. I'll admit, I have not really been a fan of it. However, I have seen so many inspirational images with this effect so tastefully done. I had the perfect opportunity to try this myself at a recent shoot. A stunning mom and a gorgeous little girl at my favorite location, and the sun in the perfect spot. What else could I ask for?!?

The Martrys were playing at Chain Reaction in Anaheim, CA and invited me along to shoot them as they played. We got in a pre-show shoot to get some band shots of the three of them. I had a lot of fun with these guys and I really got to show my edgier side to photography.

Baby Grant was 7 days old when I first laid eyes on him. And I can officially say he was the very first baby to give me the slightest bit of baby fever (Shhh!!!). He is so so precious and has some of the cutest little expressions. The L family is such a beautiful new family and you can see how much they adore their little guy!

Goodbye College Life

I have to say that this particular shoot made me laugh. This College Graduate happens to be my Brother in Law. We are all so proud and excited for him as he leaves the college life behind and is thrown into the "real world." He did his mother a huge favor by agreeing to let me (and only because it was me) photograph him for his Graduation announcements/invites. This shoot was literally done in my front and back yard. He simply threw on his cap & gown and his college sweatshirt as we headed outside. He's a lot more photogenic then he cares to admit (and since he looks so much like my husband, I am a tad bit biased!).

Anyway, we ended up geting some really nice (but not too forced) images for his graduation. In just 3 short weeks he will getting his degree... and then hopefully not too soon afterwards, a job!

So for this particular image I was going for something edgy, contrasty and textured. Jeff is a great musician and is amazing on the drums (and thanks to him my daughter has a love for playing them too). So I hung his cap on his drums and caught him as he played. I used several different Totally Rad Actions in order to create this effect and add some texture.

Tessa's First Birthday (Dol)

I had the honor of photographing Tessa's first birthday or Dolijanci. Dol is a Korean tradition that celebrates the birthday of a one year old baby. This ceremony blesses the child with a prosperous future and has taken on great significance in Korea.

Tessa's mother put together a GORGEOUS event to help celebrate this wonderful tradition.

The highlight of the dol is a ritual where the child is placed in front of a table of foods and objects such as string, books, brushes, ink and money. The child is then urged to pick up an object from the table, where it is believed the one selected will foretell the child's future. For example, if the child picks up a brush or book, he is destined to be a scholar.

For Tessa, she had a spool of thread, a pencil, a blackberry, a hundred dollar bill & Golf Balls placed in front of her. Tessa picked the Blackberry. This represents Business woman or CEO. Her parents were very excited. Tessa loved that Blackberry!

And of course, there were lots of kiddos running around. She had storytime which all of the kids loved. Hats off to Alice for a beautiful party!

We had time, in between the rain clouds, to shoot a few nice family shots outside.
